I used this so far to rivet some new threaded holes to mount my gas cap door on my truck. The little plastic screw mounts had deteriorated. There is a bit of a learning curve, but if you read the instructions carefully, then it's not too bad. I was surprised at how easily it crimps the rivets. It took very little force and at first I thought it wasn't working, but alas the rivet was secure and wouldn't budge. I much prefer this over the other style that requires a lot of leverage. It's also great for tighter spaces where you can't even fit the other styles of rivnut tool. The kit also fulfills most of my needs and the included rivnuts seem to be of good quality. I think it's worth that little bit of extra expense over the traditional rivnut tools because it's just a better tool for the job.
I've wanted a rivet nut tool for some time. Most are similar to pop rivet tools - two handles that squeeze together. I saw this tool and liked the size and the fact that it will work better in tight spots. The kit comes in a nice case that holds the tool and accessories securely. The instructions are well written and easy to understand.Operating the tool was easy. I tested the tool with a 1/4-20 rivet on a sample piece of metal. The instructions say to subtract the thickness of the metal from the grip length of the nut to determine the amount grip stroke. Instead of doing that I just measured the remaining grip area after inserting the rivet in the piece of metal. (See sixth picture.)The tool easily pulled the nut and squeezed it down to the scale I measured. The only "tricky" part was that to squeeze the rivet you rotate the upper part counter clockwise. The result is shown in the last picture. If you're looking for a rivet nut tool, give this one serious consideration. You won't be disappointed if you get it.
Works great. It did the job without and hassel. Great quality too.
Works great for the places that you can not get the bigger pliers style in to
Great tool design. Disappointed that it does not support size 10-32..
Better than the original design but still requires lotsxof tinkering every time you put another rivet in.
Great rivet gun fit ease to use durable
I used this to install numerous thread inserts into my race car chassis. When replacing the floors, I made them bolt-in, with closely spaced bolts around the perimiter for safety. This makes accessing equipment for service in the cockpit much easier.
Haven't had the chance to use it yet but I will let you know when I do
This tool works great… especially in tight spaces! Highly recommended
Used it once but it saved me having to get a whole new panel. Love the way it works and can adjust to other projects too.
Love this gets into those hard to reach areas
Product seems of quality build and came well equipped. Not sure if it is durable enough for commercial use but home use, absolutely! This would make a great gift for people who like to do custom small projects up to some more involved projects. Would recommend.
works great easy to use just like a wurth one I used at work good for places that you can't get a squeeze style one in worth the money great value
excellent value for money. Quality conponents, I use this as a s[are set tp my PN210
Easiest and most controllable rivet tool out of the other 2 designs I’ve tried. You don’t need extra tools to switch the madrels which is a big plus. There is a nice measurement etching on top. The fit and finish feels durable, I’ve been cranking down on steel recut nuts mop problem.Note: The pictures shows using both handles, but you have more control holding the outer handle and 1/4 turning the ratcheting handle.
I like this tool. It has worked flawlessly for me personally. Some people have reported structural breakage issues here. None for me. If you use it correctly it is very handy. I feel the parts are quality and easy to use. Just follow instructions and use a practice panel for your first experience. The measuring guage is helpful for consistency once you know how to set it properly. You actually only need to rotate one of the handles while holding the opposite firmly in order to achieve good results.
First off, the overwhelming majority of reviews on this page are for the 14" or 16" rivnut tool. This review is for the rachet type tool made by the same manufacturer of which there are only five reviews. My personal bench mark is whether the tool can install an M12 rivnut with ease. This rachet tool does the job whereas the squeeze type didn't make the grade especially for awkward installations. For some reason, the kit comes with zinc plated SAE rivnuts while the metric rivnuts appear to be stainless steel. I used a zinc plated M12 from my stock and it worked fine. I can't say whether the tool works for stainless which are probably much harder to compress. Read and follow the instructions carefully. Practice with a spare before you try for real. Satisfied for now. We'll see about durabiity.
